On June 29, coinciding with the celebration of the VIII SM La Reina Trophy, the fourth edition of the César Manrique-Puerto Calero Trophy, organized by the Puerto Calero Sea Club in conjunction with the Arrecife Casino Nautical Club, was presented at the RCN of Valencia. Almost 4 months have passed and everything is ready for the great spectacle of high competition sailing to begin today in the waters of the Island. It will be at 10:00 a.m. today when the crews confirm their registration at the Regatta office.

At eight in the afternoon, the starting gun will be fired with the presentation that will be made to all participants on the Las Carpas Terrace in Puerto Calero. Subsequently, a round table will be held with the participation of prominent sailors, organizers and technicians. At nine in the morning on Friday, the crew members will be offered breakfast at the Amura Restaurant, once their energies have been restored, the boats will leave for the regatta field. Then everything will be ready for the start of the first of the regattas that make up the Trophy at 12:00 noon, which in this fourth edition breaks the record for participants by reaching fifty boats competing in the waters of the Island.

The Trophy will be run in the IMS 500, IMS 600, IMS 670, IRC Regatta and IRC Cruiser classes. In the IMS 500, the Puerto Calero-Hesperia is participating, which under the command of Josele Doreste will have as its main competitors the Bombardier Illes Balears, which will be skippered by Gustavo Martínez Doreste, although in one of the tests it will be Nano Negrín from Lanzarote who will take command; another rival to beat is La Maisón de L'Elephant, which will be skippered by David Tur.

In addition to the spectacle offered by the larger boats that follow the Spanish Championship, and that can only be seen sailing on the Island on an occasion like this, the emotion for local fans will be provided by the large Lanzarote fleet that will mainly compete in IRC Regatta and IRC Cruiser.

Without a doubt, the César Manrique-Puerto Calero Trophy is the most important high-level sports competition held on the Island throughout the season. Despite its youth with only three editions held in the last two years, it has reached a high level of maturity, thus becoming one of the leading Canary Islands sports events of all time. Last year it became part of the Spanish High Level Cruiser Championship, becoming the last scoring event and therefore, a key and exciting meeting of the circuit.

After the completion of today's regattas, a reception will be offered to the sailors on the Las Carpas Terrace in Puerto Calero, later at half past eight in the evening the Board of Tourism of the Cabildo invites the participants to a dinner in the Restaurant of the Farmer's Monument.

The competition resumes at noon on Saturday with new regattas, the IV César Manrique-Puerto Calero Trophy closes at noon on Sunday with the awards ceremony after the day's regattas.
