Club La Santa has decided to cancel the celebration of Ironman Lanzarote 2020 and the Volcano Triathlon "given the health emergency situation we are in and after assessing all the options in these first 15 days of exceptional measures decreed by the Spanish government, always thinking of the good of all athletes, volunteers, collaborators and other people who make this event possible." In the case of the Volcano Triathlon, it has been decided to postpone it to April 24 of next year, while the Ironman Lanzarote is postponed to May 22, 2021, trusting that "the current situation has normalized and resolved."
From Club La Santa it is pointed out that this decision has been taken "from responsibility above any other reason." "The safety and health of anyone involved in the event is our priority. We want the best event and the best experience for the athlete and the spectator to take place, so in the face of the events that we are all suffering, we are forced to postpone our April and May 2020 events to 2021," they point out.
The current plan of Club La Santa is to resume the events in the next month of October with the Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote "and be able to make the expectations of many people a reality."
Keep the registration for 2021 or request a refund
Those participants who have registered for the Volcano Triathlon 2020 will automatically keep their registration for next year or will have the option to request a full refund of the registration before April 25, 2020 by contacting events@clublasanta.com.
As for the participants who have registered for the Ironman Lanzarote 2020, they will also automatically keep their registration for 2021 or will have the option to transfer their registration for Ironman Cascais or Ironma Vichy within the 2020 calendar. For any other more detailed information about the race, they can contact lanzarote@ironman.com.
"We hope that this decision is understood and that you apologize for any inconvenience it may cause. This organization is committed to continue working to offer you the best possible experience," they indicate from Club La Santa, from where they consider that "being united, collaborating and cooperating with all the guidelines set by governments and authorities is key to defeating COVID-19."
"Athletes have always been the clear example of many to demonstrate solidarity, companionship, discipline, effort and daily perseverance and this time it will not be less. Among all of us we will cross this finish line with our arms raised that will end the race in which we are immersed," they conclude.
