The cadet teams of Club Balonmano San José Obrero experienced an unforgettable experience last weekend, participating in the Spanish Beach Handball Championship held at Playa la Salvé in Laredo, Cantabria. The club from the Titerroy neighborhood traveled to Cantabrian lands with a men's team and a women's team, with an expedition of 21 people. In sports, the men's team reached the quarterfinals and fell to ARHS "A", a team that was later proclaimed champion of Spain in the cadet category.

The San José Obrero expedition departed on Thursday afternoon to the Bilbao airport and from there by road to the town of Tetro, very close to Laredo, where the Spanish Beach Handball Championship began on Friday morning. A tournament in which 220 teams from all over Spain participated, experiencing the authentic atmosphere of beach handball. The men's team began their participation on Friday morning. They did so with a tight victory against AM Team Almería, winning 2-1 (24-21, 17-20 and 5-4) and needing the "shoot-out" to add the first points. San José Obrero secured the first place in the group by winning on Saturday morning against BM Playa Parla from Madrid by 2-0 (16-6 and 16-12).

The team led by Nabila Harchaouin and David Robayna, qualified for the quarterfinals, after overcoming the tie against Ciudad de Cáceres. They won 2-0 (17-16 and 14-11) against the Extremadurans. And in the quarterfinals they could not overcome ARHS "A" from Catalonia, falling 2-0 (9-22 and 22-30), against the team that the next day was proclaimed champion of Spain in the cadet category.

The San José Obrero women's team started the competition on the wrong foot, falling to the potential of CBMP Fuengirola "A" by 2-0. Piñita San José Obrero secured the second position in the group by winning in the second match against AM Team Almería by 2-0 (15-14 and 10-6). And the girls trained by David Betancort and Paula Morant, were eliminated in the round of sixteen against Limpiezas AJS Las Peris by 2-0 (16-22 and 13-17).

The cadets of San José Obrero also had time to go sightseeing in the northern area of ​​Spain, visiting the cities of Santander and Bilbao and towns such as Santoña, among others. In addition, during the weekend they were able to see how the weather is in that area, enjoying the sun on the first day of competition and having to play in the rain on Saturday.

The participation in the Spanish Beach Handball Championship serves to close the season for the cadet teams of San José Obrero. Now it's time to think about the "Ciudad de Arrecife" Beach Handball Tournament, organized by CB San José Obrero, which will begin on Saturday morning at El Reducto beach.
