"Reliable sports facilities"

In his speech, Councilor Alfredo Mendoza referred to the "commitment that the Island Institution maintains to the promotion of youth sports on the Island and the permanent improvement of sports facilities, which day after day are the scene of competitions of national and international impact." In addition, he expressed his gratitude to the organization carried out by the Lanzarote Raqueta Club in this event, supported by the Island Sports Service, and added that he hopes that the results of the meeting will "facilitate the continuity and progression of new competitions of this caliber on the Island."

Finally, the councilor stressed that the tournament directly enters a national ranking of the discipline, with which Lanzarote is once again "at the epicenter of national calls around sports."

For his part, Councilor Rosmen Quevedo spoke of the "importance of badminton practice in Lanzarote," and thanked the Lanzarote Raqueta Club "for the work they do daily" to promote this sport and for "the effort they make to launch the TOP-TTR National of Lanzarote."

Óliver Gausmann, from the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, gave a detailed account of the practice of this sport on the Island during the presentation, where it has more than 400 licenses and is present in all seven municipalities. He also highlighted the scope of badminton worldwide. Gausmann, who is also a national referee of the discipline, thanked "the enormous collaboration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, given the organizational and logistical deployment of the competition."

The tournament will have 16 court referees, two referee judges and a match-control. Asked about some of the favorite Lanzarote players who could win a prize, Óliver Gausmann commented that Irene Rodríguez (Under-19) and Adrián Carabali (Under-15) are called to play a good role.

According to the Cabildo, the National Badminton Federation "will monitor the event to assess the holding of other international competitions in Lanzarote."
