The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Sports, coordinated by Francisco Javier Aparicio, has announced the suspension of the Travesía a Nado El Río 2021 "due to the complications involved in bringing together so many participants with the protection measures against Covid-19".
The island's Minister of Sports, Francisco Javier Aparicio, regrets that this edition has had to be postponed and explains that this decision has been taken "in order to guarantee the safety of the participants and the staff involved in the organisation of the event, as they would be in confined spaces such as boats, arrival areas and a very limited esplanade that contradict the health regulations against Covid".
“Next year we will return with more strength and with the hope that the pandemic will be fully controlled to ensure that everything runs in the best possible way”, the councillor stressed.
All participants with their place confirmed since 2019, will have their place reserved for the Travesía a Nado El Río 2022, whose date is not yet established.
Also, another alternative for the participants is the exchange of their place in this competition for a new event that will take place on October 10 under the title of Travesía Playas de Papagayo. This presents a format of different distances, and offers the opportunity to exchange their place in the distance of 2,800 meters.
To take advantage of this option, those interested should contact via email elrio@lanzarotedeportes.com, requesting to exchange their place and they will be sent a promotional code for free registration in the 2800 meters mode. Registration will take place on the website https://tripasioneventos.com/. The deadline to apply for the promotional code for the Playas de Papagayo crossing will be August 1, 2021.
