A match of vital importance was played on Saturday afternoon by Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife against Dólmenes Antequera, two rivals who are in the lower part of the standings and fighting for permanence in the Men's Silver Honor Division.
San José Obrero played a very serious match in all facets of the game, which allowed them to always be ahead on the scoreboard and it was in the second half when they ended up tipping the match in their favor to add the two points that were at stake.
Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife started the match commanding on the court, and establishing the first differences. Joel Armas culminated a quick counterattack to establish 5 to 2. An advantage that rose to four goals with the goal of Javi Aragón, establishing 7 to 3 on the scoreboard.
Both teams played with a 6:0 defense and it was a first half in which the defenses prevailed over the attacks, with inaccuracies in attack also being common. Dólmenes Antequera gradually got into the match, and the Malaga team even managed to equalize the score with 8 minutes left for the break.
Nico López scored a seven-meter shot to tie the game (9-9), with the locals increasing their intensity on the court to go into the break with a one-goal advantage. The first 30 minutes ended with a score of 11 to 10.
Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife put some distance in the first minutes of the second half, regaining the four-goal lead. Ander Iriarte with a precise lob, Acoidán Martín converting a seven-meter shot and Javi Aragón, were in charge of putting the 15 to 11 on the scoreboard at the beginning of the second half.
Dólmenes Antequera did not give up in this second half, and worked to prevent the match from escaping, even getting to within just two goals. Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was increasingly confident in defensive actions and in attack, the goals of Óscar Silva and Javi Aragón extended the difference to five goals (23-18).
Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife ended up sealing the match with five minutes to go. A good intervention by Javi Santana under the posts, a goalkeeper who made more than ten saves in this match, and a subsequent goal by Javi Aragón, raised the difference to six goals. Dólmenes Antequera gave up and San José Obrero ended up winning by 8 goals difference.
With the score of 29 to 21, the match came to an end at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion, with Balonmano Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife adding the third victory of the season and allowing them to be just one point away from the permanence zone. Next weekend they will have a new direct match in the fight for salvation, visiting Valinox Novás in Pontevedra.
