This year the most important regatta in the Mediterranean had a Lanzarote flavor due to the level at which the Lanzarote boat Puerto Calero Hesperia competed. Unprecedentedly, this Canary Island boat was placed from the first days of competition among the top 3 positions in the IMS Open group classification with almost 40 boats.
Day after day it was distancing itself from the rest of the boats and consolidating its winning condition. Both José Luis Dorestes and Federico Morales, tactician and helmsman of the regatta team, have been completely satisfied with the performance of all the crew members.
On the other hand, the excellent performance achieved so far in the current Puerto Calero Hesperia campaign has also become a magnificent promotion for the Cesar Manrique Puerto Calero Trophy, since many boats that have never been to Lanzarote have expressed their interest in competing in said regatta, especially several of the TP52 class boats, considered the Formula 1 of world sailing. All this also becomes a great promotion of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands as a luxury destination for nautical tourism and the organization of major sailing events.
