Arrecife became the epicenter of handball this weekend, with the celebration of the emblematic 24 Hours Handball Tournament, which took place in the year that CB San José Obrero celebrates the 50th anniversary of its foundation.
For more than 24 hours and in three pavilions, the matches of each of the categories were played. The forty-ninth edition concluded with the triumphs of “Ni Piña ni nah” in the women's category and “Esa Diva” in the men's category.
The players of the prebenjamín, benjamín and alevín categories were the first to enjoy the tournament, with the matches being held on Saturday morning at the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe facilities. Once the training handball day was over, the diplomas were awarded, each of the participants receiving a detail for their participation in the XLIX 24 Hours Handball Tournament, an event that was attended by Eli Merino, Councilor for Sports of the Arrecife City Council.
The children's and cadet categories came into action at noon on Saturday, giving way to the matches of the youth category, and the night being reserved for the seniors. On Sunday morning, the finals of each of the categories were held, in a tournament that in this edition has had the participation of more than 60 teams from all categories.
CB San José Obrero presented a distinction to Manuel Parras and Sergio González, valuing their collaboration and work throughout the tournament. As for the individual awards, Yoma Orhonigbe (Ciudad de Puerto) and Yamal Nasri (San José Obrero) were chosen as the best goalkeepers of the tournament.
