The beginning of the Unión Deportiva Las Palmas Campus in Yaiza started this Monday with a total of 75 participating boys and girls. This is the sixth time that the Lanzarote municipality has hosted this campus, taking advantage of the extensive experience of grassroots football and the work and teaching methodology of the UD School for the benefit of the participating boys and girls. These days will take place until next Saturday, July 22nd.
The first deputy mayor of Yaiza, Daniel Medina, the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, and the Councilor for Social Services, Karina Centeno, welcomed the group and observed for a few minutes this Tuesday's session led by the four School monitors who work in the Yaiza field.
There are two weeks of learning and enjoyment through football, two weeks in which values such as respect, discipline and teamwork are also reinforced, attending to boys and girls between 5 and 15 years of age. Daniel Medina declares that “the experience of previous campuses has been highly satisfactory for families and for the City Council, so we intend for the activity to last in Yaiza. The Club and the Administration maintain a magnificent relationship.”
For his part, Ángel Lago points out that “the campus is part of the summer sports offer that proposes a diversity of fun and healthy activities, proposals that also favor the work-life balance of mothers, fathers and guardians during the summer period”. Ángel Lago, also responsible for the Public Works Area of Yaiza, confirms that the playing field of the Yaiza football field underwent maintenance work once the 2022 - 2023 season ended.
