The X César Manrique Trophy 2025 for Optimist experienced the last day of competition on Sunday in the bay of Arrecife, although the light wind marked the development of the day. The trophy organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife throughout this weekend crowned Lili Skomska and Manuel Florido, sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, proving to be the most consistent throughout the two days of competition.
The 120 sailors who participated in the X César Manrique Trophy had to wait for the improvement of the weather conditions. Finally, only one of the three scheduled regattas could be held this Sunday, to complete a total of four races throughout the weekend. With the celebration of the fourth regatta, the sailors were able to discard the worst of the results obtained in the competition.
In the sub'16 female category, Lili Skomska (Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria) maintained the lead she had achieved on Saturday, and in Sunday's regatta she entered tenth at the finish line, a result that she was finally able to discard. In addition, Lili Skomska was the best positioned sailor in the general classification, with Emilie Pérez (RCNGC) in second place and María Guindin (RCNGC) in third position.
The classification of the sub'16 male category took a turn on the last day of the X César Manrique Trophy for Optimist. Manuel Florido (Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria), a sailor who had to withdraw in the third regatta on Saturday, added a fifth place this Sunday, which has allowed him to win the champion trophy. Pedro Medina (RCNA) from Lanzarote was classified second and Jorge Pérez (RCNT) completed the podium with the third position.
As for the sub'13 category, Julián Suárez (RCNA) and Martina Quintana (RCNGC) took the victory in the X César Manrique Trophy for Optimist, proving to be the most consistent sailors in their category. The male podium was completed with the second place of Jaime Betnaza (RCNGC) and the third place of Pablo Medina (RCNGC). And in females, Patricia Sosa (CMV) and Lola Carrión (RCNA), were second and third, respectively.
Pablo Morales (RCNGC) and Dácil Merino (CMV), took the victory in the sub'11 category, and despite their youth they showed great skill in the regatta field planned by the organization. Luis del Castillo-Olivares (RCNG) and Leandro de la Hoz (RCNA), completed the male podium of the category. And Catalina López (RCNGC) was the second classified in the female category.
The X César Manrique Trophy 2025 for Optimist put the finishing touch with the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon, an event that took place in the halls of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Julio Romero, president of the RCNA, was accompanied by part of his colleagues from the Board of Directors, in addition to the presence of Enrique Sánchez, director of the business area of Caixabank in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Roberto Herbón, representing the City Council of Arrecife, Antonio Acuña, representing the Maritime Captaincy, and David Pérez, representative of the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation.
