A moment of the Magec Tías match against Náutico de Tenerife ULL

Magec Tías Against Gender Violence suffered a tight defeat by 52-48 against Náutico de Tenerife Universidad La Laguna (ULL) in a vibrant Canary derby of the Women's League 2. Despite the effort and intensity shown by the Lanzarote players, the match was decided in the last seconds of the game.

The locals, led by Samira Olano and María Rosales, managed to get ahead circumstantially, although Margarida Junqueira encouraged her Magec Tías teammates to close the first quarter with a score of 18-14.

In the second quarter, the Tenerife team regained control of the game, dispelling Magec Tías' initial advantage. With a score of 30 to 22 at halftime, the match promised an exciting resolution. After passing through the locker rooms, Náutico de Tenerife ULL had difficulties scoring, allowing Magec Tías to cut the difference and stand just two points behind (37-35) at the end of the third quarter.

The last quarter was a battle of defense and concentration, where any mistake could be decisive. With 45-45 on the scoreboard with less than three minutes to go, Samira Olano became the turning point for Náutico de Tenerife ULL, scoring a three-pointer followed by a successful shot in the paint, which forced Cristo González to call a timeout. Despite a three-pointer from Margarida that put the score at 50-48, the local team secured their victory with two points from the free throw line, sealing the final result of 52-48.

The Magec Tías players, who came from a defeat in their previous match, demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level, although they failed to add a victory. With one victory and three defeats in the season, the team will prepare for their next match against Robles Lleida, on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Tías Municipal Pavilion.
