Magec Tías “Against Gender Violence” Assaults the Leader's Fortress

It was not easy to achieve the epic for a Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" who visited Ingenia Solar Energy Costa de Almería diminished by casualties for various reasons, but even so the eight players who traveled to Almería set out not to make it easy for one of the best teams in the category.

The Lanzarote team proposed a one-on-one match, without complexes, very serious, and battling for each ball in defense as if it were the last of the match. The match was very even in all points, which allowed Jesús García's team to be involved in the match and believe in their possibilities with the work they were doing, especially when they came back from a 6-point lead by the locals to finish the first quarter 15 to 16.

The small difference was going to lengthen during the second quarter. The Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence", which the maximum difference it had had was three points, managed to put land in between and escape up to 7 points, thanks, especially, to the five three-pointers it had scored during the first half of the match. Carolina Mateo was especially successful in the shot, but she was not the only player, since everyone was contributing with their characteristics and qualities, so that there could be rotations and face Alejandro Gómez's team. At halftime the difference was 29 to 34. It was not definitive, but the Lanzarote team warned that they had not gone to Almería on vacation.

In the third quarter, the Lanzarote team begins to add problems in the number of fouls. Imani Robinson has four personal fouls, while Magali Vilches and Romina Rodríguez raise the third. Physical fatigue begins to appear, but they do not stop being above on the scoreboard at any time, which allows them to draw on caste and morale to continue fighting. They achieve two more three-pointers, and there are already 9, while the difference is gradually reduced thanks to the push of the locals, who manage to go to the end of the quarter with a lot of life, although the islanders are winning, 46 to 48.

The last quarter arrived and the Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" draws strength from weakness to make a masterful defense and concede only two points during a large part of the quarter, while the scoring success allows them to go with an advantage of 11 points. Even so, there were barely three minutes of play left and although it seemed that the match was controlled, the locals came up, which had the opposite effect on the Lanzarote team, who intensified the defense and played with personal fouls in a masterful way, taking the match forward and achieving an epic victory by 58 to 61 and adding the fifth victory of the campaign.

The Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" undertook the return home after the victory and begins to think about the two matches it will have this week. On Friday they receive Ibaizabal at 7:00 p.m. in the Tías Municipal Pavilion, a team that has two fewer victories than the Lanzarote team, while on Sunday they will do so against Maristas de la Coruña at 12:00 p.m., a rival that arrives with 9 matches won in their locker.
