During the weekend, a new edition of the Copa de España de Optimist was held in Vigo, a competition that was attended by several sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, who did a great job on days of sailing complicated by the absence of wind. Lola Carrión was once again the most outstanding sailor of the Canary Islands expedition, winning third place in the under-13 category and qualifying for the Optimist European Championship to be held in Poland in July.

The Spanish Optimist Cup had the participation of four sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, forming part of the Canary team of the Royal Canary Sailing Federation. The expedition was made up of Lola Carrión Morales, Julián Suárez Sperner, Luisa Lemes Márquez and Alfonso Garcías Cruz, accompanied by technicians Carlos Hidalgo and Alejandro Bethencourt.

The little wind marked the development of the Copa de España de Optimist, with five of the nine scheduled races being held in the bay of Vigo. The Regatta Committee tried to hold a greater number of races on Sunday, but the 155 registered sailors were only able to complete two valid races, and in which the results obtained in the three races on Friday barely changed.

Lola Carrión from Friday positioned herself among the top classified in the under-13 female category. In the two races held on Sunday, the sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife adapted to the complicated sailing conditions, with very light wind blowing in the bay of Vigo.

Finally, Lola Carrión achieved third place in the U13 female category in the Spanish Optimist Cup, which is added to the Spanish champion title won last April in Getxo. With these two results, Lola Carrión brilliantly qualifies for the Optimist European Championship, a competition that will be held from July 24 to 31 in Gdynia, Poland.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors, wish to congratulate Lola Carrión for the magnificent result achieved this weekend in the Spanish Optimist Cup, and at the same time encourage her to continue working hard for the European Championship in July. Congratulations that extend to the rest of the team members, Julián Suárez, Luisa Lemes and Alfonso Garcías, as well as to the coaches Carlos Hidalgo and Alejandro Bethencourt, for the excellent performance developed this past weekend in the Spanish Cup.
