Lionel Morales was proclaimed this weekend winner in the World Cup event held on Saturday in Alhandra, Portugal.
The Lanzarote paratriathlete was the winner in Portuguese lands in the PTS2 category with a time of 01:12:32, followed, in second place, by the Italian Gianluca Valori (01:16:12) and with the Namibian Jeromius Rooi in the third drawer of the podium (01:21:31). The African paratriathlete arrived just a few seconds before the Spaniard Javier Vergara (01:21:40), fourth classified.
Lionel Morales has achieved the best time in the three partials, in the water (00:13:27), on the bicycle (00:32:04) and in the race (00:22:02), being behind only in the transitions.
After the test held in Portugal, Lionel Morales explained that "it has been a complicated week. I started the week with vomiting and stomach pain, with gastroenteritis. In the end I had a pretty bad time on the bike because I felt like vomiting, but, in the end, I was able to win by taking a good advantage in the water, which was very strong, there was a lot of wind and a lot of current. I was able to take advantage and then maintain it in the rest of the race until I reached the finish line first", concludes Lionel Morales proudly.
The weekend of October 25 will be the turn of the next and last round of the World Championship in Alanya, Turkey. Before, the Lanzarote paratriathlete will go to Águilas, Murcia, to compete in a new round of the Spanish championship
