The Lanzarote Raqueta Sports Club completed an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Top TTR Tuineje (N7) Under-15 and Under-17, held in Fuerteventura, where an expedition of ten players and their coach traveled.
The most outstanding results came in the Under-15 category, where the Lanzarote representatives shone brightly. In the men's singles, Jorge Betancort was once again proclaimed champion after defeating Pedro García from Tenerife in the semifinals and defeating Javier Peña in the final, thus winning the gold medal.
For her part, Ana Samyra Méndez also climbed to the top of the podium in the women's singles event. The Lanzarote player overcame Irene Carbajo in the semifinals and defeated Emma Ramos from Tenerife in the final to win the title.
The Under-17 category also brought significant successes for the Lanzarote Raqueta expedition. In men's singles, Eduardo Curbelo achieved a meritorious silver medal after reaching the final, where he lost to Diego Pérez from Tenerife.
In women's singles, Atenea Morales won the bronze medal after playing an intense semifinal that was decided in favor of Yareima Morales from La Palma.
The successes continued in the doubles events. In mixed doubles, the pair formed by Atenea Morales and Jorge Betancort was proclaimed champion of the tournament by defeating Hugo Guardia and Carmen Boué from Tenerife in the final, adding another gold medal for the Lanzarote delegation.
In addition, in women's doubles, Indara Arrocha and Amannay Gómez won the bronze medal after reaching the semifinals, where they lost to Elisabeth Caicedo and Leire Vera. Similarly, in men's doubles, Eduardo Curbelo and Marcos Vergés took the bronze after falling in the semifinals against Diego Pérez and Gerard Hernández from Tenerife.
With these excellent results, the Lanzarote Raqueta Sports Club returns to the island with a total of ten medals: four gold, one silver, and five bronze, reflecting the effort, work, and dedication of its athletes and coaching staff.
The entity continues to consolidate itself as one of the benchmarks in Canary Islands badminton in the youth categories, demonstrating once again the great competitive level of its young players.
