UD Lanzarote will face the return leg of the promotion playoff to the Second Division "B" with a minimal advantage. The "rojillos" won 2-1 against Burgos CF, in an intense, vibrant match in which both squads offered a game played with power. Burgos took the lead, and in the second half, UD Lanzarote showed their mettle to turn the score around.
The match began with UD Lanzarote dominating, trapping Burgos in their own half. The "rojillos" injected a lot of speed into their game, and despite the dominance, most of the attacking actions died down near the area. As the minutes passed, Burgos shook off the local dominance and dared to leave their own half.
In one of the first approaches to the opponent's area, Burgos would manage to score, although the goal was not counted. In the 26th minute, after a free kick from the left flank, Pablo Álvarez shot point-blank, and the referee, at the request of his assistant, disallowed the goal for offside by the Burgos forward.
The goal scored by Lobera in the 36th minute of the first half did count. The play was started by Troiteiro from the right wing, who performed a slalom through the entire front of the area until he passed the ball to his teammate Lobera, who beat goalkeeper Ruymán with a crossed shot.
The goal disrupted UD Lanzarote's plans. It was a bucket of cold water for the locals, who did not recover until halftime. UD Lanzarote also suffered a disallowed goal. In a divided ball between Eliot and goalkeeper Aurreko, the ball went into the goal, and the referee signaled a foul on the goalkeeper. The first 45 minutes ended with 0-1.
In the second half, UD Lanzarote went all out and eagerly sought the equalizing goal. The visitors did not give up on the attack, and their greatest danger came in set-piece actions. In the 53rd minute, after a corner kick, Jacobo shot unmarked at the far post, and the ball ended up hitting the side of the net.
The equalizer came in the 12th minute of the second half. The play was started by Toñito on the left wing, who won the end line and sent in a measured cross for Ayoze Pérez to head into the back of the net. A goal that gave wings to the locals and lifted the fans from their seats.
These were the best minutes for UD Lanzarote, and Burgos was overwhelmed by a local team that was playing in full force. As the minutes passed, the intensity of the game faded, although Lanzarote was still trying the most. For their part, Burgos seemed to be content with the draw and did not hesitate to waste time in many of the actions.
The winning goal for UD Lanzarote came in the last minute of the match. Ayoze Pérez was in charge of executing a free kick from the front of the area, goalkeeper Aurreko could not block the ball, and Rosmen took advantage of the rebound to score the winning goal.
There was no time for more, and the match would end with 2-1. A clash that ended with a lot of tension. The coach of Burgos, Julio Bañuelos, went for the coach of Lanzarote, Quico de Diego, whom he even pushed. The spirits faded, and blood did not reach the river.
The tie will be resolved next Sunday at El Plantío with the return leg.
