The Haría City Council informs the public that this year's renowned Haría Extreme Lanzarote race is suspended due to the extraordinary security measures involved in the pandemic and the complexity involved in organizing a competition of this magnitude.
Likewise, it is announced that, in its place, the ‘Haría Titán’ trail will be organized, which will be held on the same day, November 13, so that athletes do not miss a sporting event in which to participate on that day. That is why the City Council has decided to carry out a smaller and simpler test, the organization of which takes less time.
The mayoress of Haría, Chaxiraxi Niz, points out that the health crisis has delayed the organization of a test that requires a lot of preparation and "it would not be fair for athletes to attend a race that does not offer the best possible conditions", although she assures that in 2022 the Haría Extreme will "return with more force and with everything prepared to once again offer runners one of the best races on the Island".
Similarly, the Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Hernández, explains that this event will be replaced by the 'Haría Titán' trail running event, in order to keep athletes active and allow them to enjoy a high-level race on the date on which the previous event was to be held.
The councilor also details that this new race is born from the hand of the Haría Trail Team club, a pioneer and promoter of mountain races on the island and the maximum exponent and benchmark of quality due to its know-how and understanding of trail running.
The ‘Haría Titán’ captures the essence of mountain or trail running races, offering the opportunity to discover a landscape with extraordinary natural beauty, with a high-altitude route that helps you enjoy the views of Haría, allowing runners to discover unique enclaves of the authentic route of the mountains of northern Lanzarote.
‘Haría Titán’ is a mountain race with a program of three parallel races, with different routes and distances, elevation gains, refreshments, signage and security. These three races are: Haría Titán Trail 40K, 21K and 14K.
