This week the Occidental Allegro Oasis in Costa Teguise hosted the presentation of the Third Concentration of the UNELCO-Endesa 2008 Sub'20 Basketball Circuit, which will take place from February 17 to 19 at the Teguise Municipal Pavilion, in addition to the presentations of the III César Manrique Children's Basketball Trophy and the fourth Minibasket tournament in San Bartolomé. All initiatives are collaborated and organized by the Grubati Basketball Club.
The event was chaired by the president of the Board of Directors of the Gran Canaria Basketball Club, Lisandro Hernández, who was accompanied by the second deputy mayor of the Teguise City Council, Juan Jesús González Docal, the Councilor for Sports of the San Bartolomé City Council, María Dolores Corujo, the Councilor for Tourism of San Bartolomé, Aurea Mauri, and the director of the Occidental Allegro Oasis Hotel, Juan Carlos Albuixech.
The Sub'20 tournament will feature teams from AXA FC Barcelona, DKV Juventud, C.B. Granada and Occidental Allegro Oasis - Gran Canaria. All players will stay in the facilities that host today's presentation. Many of these young people are international players in their countries' national teams.
The III Cesar Manrique Occidental Allegro Oasis Trophy will also be presented at the same event, which will be held from February 7 to 10 at the Teguise Municipal Pavilion. More than 300 children between 12 and 13 years of age will participate. The teams are: Canterbury Lions (Gran Canaria); CB Gran Canaria; Basket Tara (Gran Canaria); Uni CajaCanarias (Tenerife); Nyrvana (Tenerife); CB San Isidro (Tenerife); Estudiantes CB (Madrid); CB Grubati (Lanzarote) and CB Puerto del Arrecife (Lanzarote).
At the end of the month, another basketball event will take place in the municipality of San Bartolomé, the Minibasket tournament that brings together dozens of young players from the Island in the municipality of San Bartolomé.
