The 4th edition of the Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife Marathon, organized by the Arrecife City Council, Club La Santa, and the Cabildo de Lanzarote, was held this past weekend with great success in terms of participation. This athletic event, unique in its category in the archipelago, managed to gather nearly 900 participants of all ages and various nationalities.
According to the Sports Councilor of the Arrecife City Council, José Montelongo, "the Arrecife City Marathon is becoming a major athletic event each year, flooding the city with runners from different countries." Montelongo highlighted the high participation rate in an event that for the first time included the Charco de San Ginés in its route, something that, according to the capital city councilor, "has been welcomed with satisfaction by the athletes."
Five types of event
In addition to the quarter marathon, with a distance of 10.550 kilometers, the half marathon of 21.100 kilometers, the Marathon, which with its 42.19 kilometers constituted the great challenge of the day for the athletes, the team marathon, and the Marathon Kids, a race organized by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and designed for children between 3 and 14 years old, were also held this Sunday.
