Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote visited the court of Rodosa Balonmano Chapela on Sunday morning, a rival that occupies the third place in the standings and has one of the best squads in the category. San José Obrero played a very serious game in all facets, which allowed them to decide the match before halftime with a partial score of 0-8 in the last ten minutes of the period.
The first minutes of the match were dominated by BM Chapela, being the team that marked the first differences on the scoreboard. Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote had problems overcoming the defense of the Galicians, losing many balls in the offensive actions and seeing how the rival achieved an important first advantage of three goals (4-1).
As the minutes went by, San José Obrero adapted and, led by a Mikita Liavonau who scored the first four goals of his team, was able to tie the score (4-4). Pedro Cabrera put the Lanzarote team ahead for the first time and Cristian Luján culminated a counterattack to establish the 4 to 6.
The 6:0 defense of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was proving to be very secure and BM Chapela crashed against it again and again. The local coach requested up to two timeouts in this first half, failing to stop the 0-8 partial that the visiting team achieved in the last ten minutes. The score was 7 to 14 at halftime.
The second half began with two new goals for San José Obrero, with lateral Mikita Liavonau and pivot Pedro Cabrera scoring, increasing the lead to nine goals (7-16). BM Chapela established a mixed defense in this second half to stop the attack of the visitors, although they did not succeed in that way either. In addition, on more than one occasion, Jesús Casanova's team scored in numerical inferiority.
Under the sticks was a safe Javi Santana, making saves of great merit, and in this way all the pieces of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote were well oiled in this match. Without taking their foot off the accelerator, the minutes continued to pass in this second half, the visitors aware of the importance of the goal difference.
With the score of 16 to 27, the match came to an end, with Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote completing one of the best matches of the season and a result that consolidates them in the lead of the First National Men's League together with Calvo Xiria, putting distance between them and their pursuers. Their next rival will be Seis do Nadal, a match that will be played on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy.
