Gómez leaves UD Lanzarote and Jhota joins Marítima

Late on Wednesday, just in the final moments of the winter transfer window, UD Lanzarote midfielder José Antonio Gómez closed negotiations with Gramanet after formalizing his departure at the Lanzarote club's offices. The Barcelona player returns home, to a Second Division B team where an old "rojillo" acquaintance, striker Meca, is playing this season. The official website of the Lanzarote club states: "This was Gómez's second season with the rojilla club, although he remained injured for a good part of last season. The Club wishes him the best of luck in whatever his new professional endeavor may be."

Gómez, who had the highest salary in the rojilla squad, has barely had minutes in Paco Gutiérrez's team, having participated in 10 league matches. He has the backing of having enjoyed good seasons in teams such as Real Murcia (02-03), with which he won the Second Division title, in Burgos (05-06) or in Blanes (06-07) before joining the Lanzarote team. At 28 years old, this player is the 17th new face that Atlético Gramanet has signed this year, a historic club in the province of Barcelona that currently occupies the third place in the classification of Group III.

UD Lanzarote will not be able to cover Gómez's spot in the winter market since the transfer period ended last night.

Jhota will play for Marítima

On the other hand, and after not reaching an understanding with Villa de Santa Brígida, Lanzarote midfielder Jhonatam Pérez Olivero, Jhota, is loaned for the rest of the season to CD Orientación Marítima. The player from Universidad de Las Palmas CF wants minutes in the final stretch of his recovery and therefore joins the "rojinegra" entity.

Jhota has a contract with the university team for two more years and has played for teams such as UD Las Palmas, Real Madrid Castilla and Ponferradina. In full recovery, the youth player trained at full speed last night with his new teammates, although it is unlikely that he will be called up this Saturday in the match that Orientación is playing against SD Tenisca in the Ciudad Deportiva.
