A unique and peculiar race was held this Saturday morning in Arrecife. A vertical race consisting of a 6-kilometer course that concluded on the 16th floor of the Arrecife Gran Hotel. This is the first time a race of these characteristics has been held in the Canary Islands, bringing together more than a hundred intrepid athletes in its first edition. Francisco Javier García Viñoly and Celia Romero were the winners of the 1st Arrecife Gran Hotel Race.

The participants gathered near the Arrecife Gran Hotel, with the youngest athletes being the first to start. Each participant received a commemorative medal, and the race took place along the entire Arrecife maritime avenue. Adrián Herrera was the winner of the children's category, followed by Alberto Herrera and Alejandra Hernández.

The race for adults consisted of a 6-kilometer course, reaching La Concha beach, and to complete the unique race, they had to climb the stairs of the 16 floors of the Arrecife Gran Hotel on foot. The finish line was located on the 16th floor, making it a vertical race held for the first time in the Canary Islands.

In the men's category, the winner was Francisco Javier García Viñoly from the Ceat Tenerife - CajaCanarias club, with a time of 16:01. Second place went to Agoney Morales, cousin of the winning athlete, who took 16 minutes and 21 seconds. The podium was completed with the third place achieved by Miguel Guerra (16:28).

In the women's category, the winner was Celia Romero from the Pájara Playas de Jandía club, after investing a time of 19 minutes and 7 seconds. At the conclusion of the race, the trophy presentation took place in each of the categories arranged by the organization. An event that took place in the vicinity of the Islas Canarias Park.
