Costa Teguise hosted the third race of the season of the Canary Islands Mountain Bike Federation Cup on Sunday morning, with the celebration of the XII Mountain Bike Hotel Beatriz Costa Teguise & Spa. More than 75 participants gathered in the fast and demanding course prepared by the organization. In the absolute category the winner was Francisco J. Pérez, a runner who gave no options to the rest of the participants
The competition was started by the youngest, with a circuit prepared for their characteristics. In the Beginners category the winner was Diego Calzadilla, followed by Andrés Medina and Jeremy Sosa, who completed the podium. In children, the fastest was Iván Perera from Terravolcan, followed closely by Anna Alegre from LanzaBike, obtaining the first place in women's.
The absolute winner of the XII Mountain Bike Hotel Beatriz Costa Teguise was Francisco J.Pérez from the McDonalds Telde club. The winner maintained a beautiful fight in the first kilometers with José Maceiras from Perenquén, until Francis began to put land in between. The third place went to Aitor Navarro from the Ciprés club, winner of the past edition.
José Agustín Pérez from El Aljibe won the Master30 category, followed by Adán Alfaya from Terravolcán and Néstor Rodríguez from Bike Natural, who was able to reach the third place on the podium, glancing sideways at Humberto Mateos from Arubike, who was getting dangerously close.
Derek Waight from Costa Teguise LanzaBike achieved the first place on the podium in Master40, in a fierce fight with his rivals, since at the end of the first lap he was third, starting a strong comeback that paid off to take the final victory. He was followed on the next steps of the podium by Thomas Goossens from Terravolcán just 30 seconds away and one minute more his teammate Wilson Cruz.
Jonathan Navarro from Terravolcán won the victory among the Juniors with Tony Maldonado from Costa Teguise LanzaBike on his heels and Jose Claudio Matos from LanzaBike reached the third place very delayed after suffering a puncture a few meters from the start.
The most veteran category, Master50, was not without emotion in its initial kilometers, but José Antonio Caamaño from Jacomar tightened in the second lap to have a relatively comfortable advantage over Edmundo Espulgas from Vadebicis. Fernando Chissotti from Viclass completed the third step of the podium.
The Cadet Antonio Padrón from Terravolcán maintained a tough fight with Roberto H. Hernández from Costa Teguise LanzaBike, but a strong fall in the last lap, less than a kilometer from the finish line, ruined Roberto's options, who was forced to abandon with a strong contusion. Leandro Martín inherited the second position.
At the end of the race, the awards ceremony for all categories was held. The Councilor for Tourism of the Teguise City Council, Oswaldo Betancort, and the director of the Hotel Beatriz Costa Teguis & Spa, were in charge of presenting the awards. The race served to start the Lanzarote - Fuerteventura Inter-Island Championship.
