This Friday night will see the TC1 "Haría-Los Valles-El Mojón" take place, the longest of all at 15 kilometers

Start of the 43rd Rally Isla de Lanzarote

This Friday saw the start of the 43rd Orvecame-Isla de Lanzarote Rally, the event that closes the 2022 season in the Canary Islands and where several titles will be decided at a regional, provincial and island level. From 7:30 p.m. the starting ceremony began from Arrecife, where a total of 55 teams received the starting flag from the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Alfredo Mendoza, the councilors of the Arrecife City Council, Rosmen Quevedo and David Toledo; the Councilor for Sports of Teguise, Gerardo Rodríguez; Javier Martín for the Cabrera Medina Group and Juan Carlos González for BP. On the federative side, Miguel Angel Domínguez, acting president of the FALP, and José Víctor Rodríguez, president of the organization of the CD. Evesport.

Of the 61 registered teams, there have been six withdrawals in the verifications (numbers 20, 34, 47, 55, 56 and 58), so a total of 55 vehicles took the start, after receiving the latest instructions (briefing) from the race director under the orders of Acaymo Reyes, moments before the official start from the Parque Islas Canarias.

Special ovation was received by Martina Pérez, the young promise from Lanzarote who debuts as co-driver of Héctor Macías (Opel Corsa num. 53), who thanks to the push of social networks managed to make her dream of running her first rally come true.

The cool and humid weather, plus some rain throughout the afternoon, has meant that the TC1 that will be held tonight, is found with the floor partially wet in areas. This is the longest section of the road book consisting of eight specials, which takes place between "Haría-Los Valles-El Mojón".

Toñi Ponce (Hyundai i20 R5) and Julio Martínez (Porsche 911 GT3) are playing for the absolute title of the BP Championship of Las Palmas, while in the Insular of Lanzarote they start with championship possibilities, Toñón Suárez and Oliver Rodríguez, both with Porsche 911 GT3, in addition to Yeray Lemes, the latter with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X loaned by Juan Carlos Quintana from Gran Canaria, since his Porsche 911 recently broke down and was about to run out of his rally.
