El Yaiza takes the Lanzarote derby against Lanzarote (0-1)

Match corresponding to the 16th matchday of group XII of the Third Federation

Unión Sur Yaiza

Unión Sur Yaiza and UD Lanzarote played this Sunday morning the last derby of the season of Group XII of the Third Federation, which fell on the side of the southern team (0-1).

As expected, the first minutes of the Lanzarote derby were full of clashes and tension. The first opportunity for the locals came in the fifth minute with a through ball that Meca shot wide to the left of the post defended by Álex Medina. Shortly after, a foul launched by Javi Melián ended in a foul on the local goalkeeper, avoiding a dangerous shot from Álex Yunes.

After the 17th minute, a confusing attacking play by Yaiza ended with Javi Melián on the ground in the local area without the referee noticing anything strange.

Carlos Ramírez's team tried to play the ball out, a decision that gave the team one scare after another, but in the 21st minute, their persistence paid off. A corner taken from the left by Ruymán ended in a precise header by Aco into the back of the local net to put Yaiza ahead on the scoreboard and provoke the joy of dozens of green and black fans in the stands of the Lanzarote Sports City.

UD Lanzarote tried in the following minutes, especially down the right wing of Adrián Machín, but without success. The first time they crossed from the left, half an hour into the match, Keita managed to head the ball, without many problems for the visiting defense.

Approaching the 40th minute, the green defender, Carlos Rosa, brought out the claw that he usually shows and, up to three times in a row in a matter of seconds, managed to stop a dangerous attack from Lanzarote, provoking the applause of the southern fans.

After the regulation time, Álex Yunes almost managed to take advantage of a long ball that Ruymán managed to catch to avoid an opportunity for the green captain. Shortly after, the first half ended with the visitors ahead.

The second half started with the usual midfielding in the restarts. It was not until the 7th minute that a long ball from Javi Martín was almost taken advantage of by Gonzalo Di Renzo, but Álex Medina was where he had to be to neutralize the attack.

In the 8th minute, the referee premiered the yellow cards with Javi Melián after a clash in the middle of the pitch with a local player. Numerous fouls filled the match and the yellow card could have fallen on either side. Inertia and the referee decided.

Shortly after, Joni lost a ball on the right wing of the locals. Frustration led him to foul Meca, which cost him the yellow card, the second for the visitors. It was the 13th minute of the second half.

But the referee had already picked up speed. In the following play, a cross from Yaiza into the rojilla area ended in a confrontation between the green captain, Álex Yunes and Keita, who was very accelerated from the start. Both received a yellow card.

Mateo García moved the bench. Ayoze and Yeray Cruz came onto the capital's artificial turf for Rodrigo and Meca. Two minutes later, in the 24th minute, Ayoze launched a direct free kick from the edge of the area that was lost a short distance from Álex Medina's right post.

Carlos Ramírez was quick to oxygenate the team. Juanca and Miguel Gómez came on in the 33rd minute for Ubay and Joni. Both players waited about five minutes on the sidelines. The referee preferred to give priority to a direct free kick and five corners from Lanzarote.

The locals continued to try as the minutes passed, weighing more and more on their shoulders. The southern team continued to give strength to the team, with Javi Melián being replaced by Senem in the 36th minute.

UD Lanzarote continued without finding the key, abusing the lateral centers and forgetting the center of the field. The green defense remained firm. A foul on the edge of the visitors' area gave the locals the option they were looking for in the 41st minute. Ayoze sent it over Álex Medina's crossbar.

In the 42nd minute, Yaiza seemed to finish the match with Yeray Tavío barely thirty seconds after coming on in place of Aco, but the linesman raised the flag. But Yaiza was not hiding to protect the goal and continued to stalk Lanzarote's goal.

An escape by Fabricio was cut short by Pope, who received a yellow card with time already up. The foul, ten meters from the green area, was taken by Fabricio himself, who put in a dangerous inside ball for which they claimed a penalty. The referee was clear and did not whistle anything. The local team continued to try without reward against a very serious Yaiza throughout the match.

The match was not enough. Three points for a Yaiza in need who takes the last Lanzarote derby of the year.
