Domingo Gil, who was the club's secretary since 2009, will present his candidacy for the presidency of UD Lanzarote to the Electoral Board of the red club, with the purpose of counting on the support of the entity's members. Domingo Gil wants to create a Board of Directors that "is capable of working to improve sports results, liquidate the debt with Social Security and change the organizational infrastructure of the club."
Domingo Gil arrived at UD Lanzarote, in a new stage, in 2009 and "when the club was on the verge of disappearing. José Domingo Machín and Domingo Gil, took the reins of an entity in ruins and building a sports project to return UD Lanzarote among the leading clubs in the Canary Islands", they point out in a press release.
Gil adds that "many of the economic debts that UD Lanzarote had at that time were canceled, generating a surplus in recent seasons. One of the most important agreements was with Social Security for the Quique Gandul case, managing to divide the debt into annual payments and not jeopardize the economic solvency of UD Lanzarote".
"In sports, UD Lanzarote has been able to recover from adversities and build a project to fight for the team's return to the Second Division "B". In this last stage, the red team has played the promotion phase to the bronze division of Spanish football for four seasons", he points out.
Domingo Gil in his program as a candidate for the presidency of UD Lanzarote works on several aspects that he explains below:
"The first of them is the improvement of sports results, working from the lower categories. In this aspect, Domingo Gil confirms that he has a closed agreement with Maxi Barrera, with the purpose that he returns to UD Lanzarote as coach of the first team and as sports director of the entity.
Another of the important aspects in which we will work will be the liquidation of the debt with Social Security, with the objective that the entity can work without any type of economic setbacks and leave a problem that they inherited when they took the reins of the club in 2009 settled.
And the third line of action will be to change the infrastructure of the club, both in the sports and management structure. Having a good organization chart is essential so that the club can work with solvency in each of its categories. In the management aspect, each component of the Board of Directors will be responsible for their area, working to improve each of them".
Domingo Gil requests the support of the members of UD Lanzarote and "to become the new president of the red entity in the next four years. Some members who know perfectly the work that has been done in the last decade, taking a club that was in ruins and on the verge of disappearing, and demonstrating the love for an entity to get it out of nothing".
