LandBit Lanzarote San José Obrero visited SAR Plastic Omnium on Saturday night, not trusting the rival's qualifying situation and displaying a great game on the Redondela court. The players led by Iñaki Malumbres gradually opened the gap on the scoreboard, eventually winning by a clear 27 to 39 against the bottom team in the First National Men's League.
LandBit Lanzarote jumped onto the 40x20 from the start with clear ideas and trying to impose their game. The solid 6:0 defense of the Lanzarote team was difficult to overcome for the SAR Plastic Omnium players. Diego Fernández and Alexis Rodríguez, were in charge of putting the 0 to 2 on the scoreboard in the early stages of the match. And two goals from Carmelo Álvarez, the second after a steal in defense, established the 1 to 5.
The SAR Plastic Omnium coach barely took seven minutes to request a time-out, after Mikita Liavonau's goal (1-6). Near the halfway point of the first half, LandBit Lanzarote had the game on track. The goals from Ángel Iglesias from the left wing, from Nacho López and from Acoidán Martín, who took advantage of a pass from Javi Sanatana from the goal, served to establish the 5 to 14 on the scoreboard.
With the score at 9 to 17, the first half came to an end, and in the first minutes of the second half, LandBit Lanzarote sealed the game. The second period began with a 0-6 partial in favor of the Lanzarote team, with goals from Abián Martín, Carmelo Álvarez (3), Ángel Iglesias and Mikita Liavonau (9-23).
Not even the time-out requested by Manuel Fernández served to stop a rival that was showing its best handball on the court. After the instructions from the bench, Abián Martín increased the difference to 15 goals. SAR Plastic Omnium took more than six minutes to pierce the goal defended in this second half by Roberto Molina.
With the score at 27 to 39, the match came to an end, with LandBIt Lanzarote adding a new victory and allowing them to have a 10-point advantage over Disciclín Balonmano Lalín and OAR Coruña. Next Sunday, San José Obrero will receive the visit of Balonmano Ingenio and, if they win, they would certify their qualification for the promotion phase with five games remaining until the end of the regular phase of the competition.
