Comfortable victory for CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife against Roquetas

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife returned to competition on Saturday afternoon receiving Agrinova Costa de Almería Roquetas, with the firm intention of adding a victory to continue in the fight for promotion in the Women's Gold Honor Division. The women's team of San José Obrero added a comfortable victory against the bottom team of the category, in a match that began to tilt in their favor from the first minutes.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife took control of the match from the beginning. The match started with a 4-0 run in the first three minutes, with goals from Marilia Correia, Leticia Cobo, Veronika Dvorakova and Gema Trujillo, forcing the coach of Agrinova Costa de Almería Roquetas to request the first timeout of the match.

After the instructions from the bench, two goals from Thalyta Almeida increased the difference and CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife began to control the match comfortably. The visitors slightly narrowed the gap on the scoreboard in the middle of the first half, with the locals again increasing the lead to five goals (14-9).

In the final minutes of the first half, two goals from Melania Cabrera allowed to increase the difference to six goals, the maximum until that moment. With the result of 20 to 13, the first half came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife displaying a great game on the court, and taking advantage of the defensive fragility of the rival.

The second half practically had no history due to the wide difference reflected on the scoreboard, an advantage that CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was increasing as the minutes passed. The lead in favor of the locals was placed at ten goals, and the coach of San José Obrero rotated his players to distribute the loads of minutes.

The positive note of the match was the reappearance of the pivot Yaiza Alonso, a player who was injured in the knee during the preseason and had not been able to debut this season with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife. In the minutes she was on the court, she scored a goal from the six-meter line, offered a great job in the pivot and in the center of the team's defense.

With the score of 34 to 22, the match came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife adding a comfortable victory against Agrinova Costa de Almería Roquetas, which allows them to retain the second position in the Women's Gold Honor Division. Next weekend, the Lanzarote team has a real test of fire, visiting the court of Lobas Global Atac Oviedo, another of the teams that is fighting for promotion.
