CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife closes the season with victory

Despite the triumph, the San José Obrero women's team does not qualify for the promotion phase

Match between San José Obrero and Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife faced the last match of the regular phase of the Women's Gold Honor Division on Saturday afternoon. The San José Obrero women's team needed to win against Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de
Calatrava and hope for a possible stumble from Zonzamas to get into the promotion phase. The first part of the equation was fulfilled, but the second part did not happen, leaving the team from the Titerroy neighborhood at the gates of the promotion phase to the Iberdrola Guerreras League.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife struggled to get into the match in the first minutes, showing quite erratic in attack, with turnovers and poorly selected shots, and with a defense that was not
able to stop the penetrations of the players of Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava.

An outside shot by María Rosell allowed the visitors to gain a two-goal advantage (6-8). The entry of central player Aida Brull gave the locals more tranquility in their attacking actions and they gradually got into the match. Miriam Páez, with a seven-meter shot and a goal from the pivot, was in charge of tying the score. And the goals of Aida Brull and Esther de Miguel put the score at 10 to 8 on the scoreboard, forcing the Pozuelo coach to request a time-out.

There was no reaction from Soliss Balonmano Pozuelo de Calatrava after the instructions from the bench, with the locals increasing the difference with goals from Adina Guidoarca and Petra Jersek. With the score of 17 to 12, they reached
the end of the first half, and CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife began to dream seeing the news coming from the Zonzamas match.

CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife finished closing the match in the first minutes of the second half. The period began with a 4-1 partial, forcing Eusebio Angulo to request a new time-out (21-13). And in the
return to the court, Nabila de Ganzo and Leticia Cobo scored two new goals to raise the difference to ten goals (23-13).

The match had no history until the end of it, and the San José Obrero bench began to be more aware of the news coming from Tenerife. News that gradually extinguished the hopes of the
players of the team from the Titerroy neighborhood, seeing how Zonzamas turned the score around and that they were not going to fail in this last day of competition.

With the score of 30 to 23, the match came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife closing the season with a victory and located in the fifth position of the Women's Gold Honor Division standings. A position that leaves the team at the gates of qualifying for the promotion phase to the Iberdrola Guerreras League.
