With promotion to the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola secured, CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife faced their last match of the season on Saturday afternoon, visiting Wise Anaitasuna in a game where nothing was at stake. The players of San José Obrero were surpassed in this last match of the season, with the Navarre team taking the victory by 29 to 25.
The match was quite even in its first minutes, with an exchange of goals and minimal differences reflected on the scoreboard. After passing the halfway point of the first half, Wise Anaitasuna began to distance themselves on the scoreboard, reaching a lead of five goals (10-5), with the visitors conceding a 3-0 run.
After more than seven minutes without being able to penetrate the Navarre team's goal, Beatriz Masseu broke her team's scoring drought and started the reaction. Then came the goals from Keyla Hernández (2), Miriam Páez, and Bea Masseu herself, tying the score on the electronic scoreboard (10-10). Wise Anaitasuna went into halftime with a two-goal advantage, with the result being 15 to 13.
Wise Anaitasuna once again put some distance between themselves in the first minutes of the second half, starting the period with goals from Daniela Natale and Marta Jaques, increasing the lead to four goals. The Navarre team managed to regain the maximum lead of five goals in this second half, after the goal scored by Alba Jurado (20-15).
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was not willing to let the match slip away and, as the minutes passed, they got back into the fight for the two points that were at stake. With eleven minutes left in the match, Marilia Correia scored to put her team just one goal behind (22-21).
The last ten minutes of the match were dominated by Wise Anaitasuna, a team that managed to secure a lead that they could manage until the end of the match. With the result of 29 to 25, the match came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife closing the season in the Women's Honor Division Gold with a defeat.
