CB Lanzarote Zonzamas put up a fight but couldn't beat the leader Rodríguez Cleba León

CB Lanzarote Zonzamas had not known defeat in 2019, settling with victory the three matches played in January.

Rodríguez Cleba from León, leader of group A of the Women's Silver Division of Honor, was in charge of breaking the good dynamic of results of the batateras, achieving on Saturday afternoon a hard-fought victory. Zonzamas sold the defeat dearly, taking the initiative on the scoreboard for many minutes of the first half.

The match began with a Rodríguez Cleba who was in charge on the scoreboard, although CB Lanzarote Zonzamas did not lose face. The Lanzaroteños based their reaction on closing ranks in defense and complicating the locals in offensive actions. Zonzamas took the initiative in these first minutes, although the advantage was no more than one goal for many minutes.

A 3-0 partial in the middle of the first part began to tilt the match in favor of Rodríguez Cleba. The León players began to feel more comfortable on the playing field, and a new 4-1 partial at the edge of the break, meant that the first thirty minutes came to an end with a score of 14 to 10.

Rodríguez Cleba's game improved in the second half, being more intense in the defensive zone and increasing efficiency in attack actions. The locals had a maximum income of eight goals in this second part, making it impossible for CB Lanzarote Zonzamas to achieve something positive in the match against the leader.

Brenda Roger was in charge of taking the initiative in attack for her team, concluding the match with 15 goals to her credit. The good offensive contribution of the Majorera player was not enough for the team trained by Jesús Casanova to achieve a positive result. With the score of 29 to 25, the match came to an end.

The defeat leaves CB Lanzarote Zonzamas in eighth place in the standings with 17 points, maintaining the 9-point advantage over the relegation zone and having one game less than the rest of the group's rivals. The next match will be against BM Chapela, a match that will be played on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Pavilion of Las Palmeras de San Bartolomé.
