CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen continues the winning streak at Carballal's home

Match corresponding to the twenty-third day of Group A of the Women's Silver Honor Division.

Puerto del Carmen

CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen achieved a new victory this Saturday at the Lalín Arena Pavilion against AD Carballal Balonmano (29-30) in a match corresponding to the twenty-third day of Group A of the Women's Silver Honor Division.

If the victory in the first leg match against the Galicians allowed the Tías team to rise for the first time in the season with the solo lead, the second leg match has been another example of the sportsmanship and nobility of Juanmi Pérez's warriors who, without needing it, won away against one of the group's powerhouses.

The match couldn't have started better for the aurinegras, with a guard of honor from the Galicians and, in addition, acquiring an advantage that would last, oscillating, until the locals managed to balance the score again with ten minutes left until halftime (14-14, min. 25).

The inertia of the local improvement would lead them to reach halftime winning by one. In the second half, the trend would be the opposite. After the first minutes with an advantage for Carballal, the Tías team stepped on the accelerator until they tied the match again (26-26, min. 50).

The Tías team arrived better in the last ten minutes of the match and after tying the match, they acquired a small advantage (26-29, min. 55) that would make the Galician effort impossible towards the end of the match. The leaders once again demonstrated that, even without needing it, they fought until the end to win, which they have done again today in Galicia.

Puerto del Carmen remains, and will remain, the leader until the end of the season, with 44 points in 23 matches after 22 victories and only one defeat. Carballal has fallen to fourth position in the standings with 29 points. Between them are Meaño in second position and Gijón, third and tied on points with Carballal. Porriño and Valladolid are close behind.

Ana Alonso was the most fortunate in front of goal in the Galician team with six goals. In the Tías ranks, Cristina Betancort excelled, literally, with 14 goals. Well accompanied in the offensive facet by the usual suspect, Fernanda Insfran, who added 7 goals to the aurinegras' score.

The coach of Puerto del Carmen, Juanmi Pérez, commented after the victory in Galicia that "it has been a match that we won by one goal, the truth is that it has been a quite beautiful match in terms of intensity. In the second half, we brought out that caste that the team needs to improve other things that will come to us later. About the match, congratulate Carballal for the guard of honor they gave us in the
presentation for being group champions, a nice detail from a club like Carballal.

The match started well, we were winning by three or four goals but Carballal pushed and pushed with an individual defense practically all over the field and made it difficult for us, reaching halftime winning by one goal. In the second half, we managed to raise our defensive intensity, which is perhaps what I liked most about our team today. We put a lot of effort when we were losing by four goals and turned the score around to end up winning by one. I want to congratulate the girls because today has been a match that perhaps will make us improve a lot, a lot of intensity, many problems both in attack and defense but we gritted our teeth to get it forward. Congratulate Carballal who today have put everything on the court to win and we are happy with two more points. We continue thinking about our goal which are the first matches of the promotion phase", concludes the Tías coach.

CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will play again in the penultimate day of the league, the twenty-fourth day, at the Tías Municipal Pavilion, next Saturday, March 25, at 6:00 p.m., against Inelsa Solar Asmubal Meaño, a team that is, from this weekend, in second position with 32 points and has not known defeat for weeks. In the first leg match, played in Galicia, the Tías team
won quite comfortably (32-46). After the match against the Pontevedra team, Puerto will only have two matches left before facing the promotion phase, they will visit Quesos Cerrato Bm. Fuentes Carrionas (4/1) to close the regular season receiving Rocasa at home (4/15).
