Club Baloncesto Conejero and Club Baloncesto Grubati have decided to join forces with the aim of strengthening grassroots basketball on the island and the island's EBA League team in the future.
The agreement, in the eyes of the president of Grubati Jonatan Castellano, consists of "joining forces from the junior category and working with a view to having the most competitive team possible, and one that can contribute the largest number of players, in a solid structure, to the EBA League team, the highest men's category played on the island." Several players raised in the 'tiger club' have debuted in the EBA League with 'the oranges', the most recent being Elvis Pereira, already renewed, Jorge Martín and Óliver Delgado.
Iván Fernández, president of CB Conejero, with this agreement manages to get closer to his desire that the EBA League team can be the exciting destination for young players on the island.
Under the agreement, Jonatan Castellano will also join the Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros as Director of Operations (COO), assuming functions "such as establishing strategies to develop the products and services offered by the club, ensuring the operational development of the activity generated by the club, managing the internal production resources for the development of the activities, integrating the internal processes of the club under the same criteria and the same image to the outside", in his own words. The objective is to take advantage of Jonatan Castellano's experience as an event organizer so that the EBA League matches are a spectacle for the fans, in every way. "The EBA League match in Lanzarote is the same as the ACB League match in Gran Canaria or Tenerife, and therefore we want to give it value in this sense; it must be turned into a show-spectacle, the basketball matches have to be those of senior and junior, those of the EBA league team, must be a spectacle that the public enjoys, not only the game of the teams, but everything that surrounds the match itself, creating a spectacle that people want to go to see, and that is worth paying for and subscribing to."
