BM Alarcos defeats Ca´Mario Lanzarote and complicates their permanence

As expected at the beginning of the season, the debut of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero in the Men's Silver Division of Handball, far from being a bed of roses, is a route full of obstacles where permanence must be fought for in each of the matches.

The Lanzarote team suffered a new defeat on Wednesday night, this time against BM Alarcos Ciudad Real. Ca´Mario showed in the second part of the match the problems it is having in finishing the attacking plays, scoring only seven goals.

BM Alarcos Ciudad Real showed from the first moment that they came to Lanzarote with the aim of adding the two points that were at stake and continue fighting for the possibility of getting into the promotion phase. The Manchegos scored the first two goals, being quickly countered by the goals of Nico López who put the tie on the scoreboard. Javi García, from the pivot, put Ca´Mario Lanzarote ahead for the first time (3-2).

It was going to be an equal first half with alternatives in the game and on the scoreboard. The visitors achieved a two-goal lead in the middle of the first half, forcing coach Jordi Lluelles to request a time-out (6-8). Ca´Mario reacted with Javi García and Andrei Vakhnovich who tied the game and Diego Reyes culminated a counterattack to put the locals ahead again. San José Obrero took perfect advantage of Brian Negrete's exclusion.

The locals, supported by a public that did not stop cheering at all times, took a two-goal lead. Dzmitry Patotski had managed to intimidate the attackers of BM Alarcos Ciudad Real, making good interventions in the first half. The goal of the Chilean Diego Reyes put the 10-8 on the scoreboard, requesting Javier Márquez a time-out. The first part concluded with a defensive error of the locals, who did not close a rejection and allowed Manuel Díaz to score on the horn to establish the 13-14 with which the break was reached.

The second half was a different story and there was only one team on the court. The period began with the goals of Vicente Poveda and Brian Negrete, who established the advantage in the three goals, being quickly requested a time-out by the local bench to stop the visiting dynamics. Vicente Poveda, player of San José Obrero last season, was very effective in this second part and with a powerful outside shot broke the Lanzarote defense.

In the middle of the second half, the advantage in favor of BM Alarcos Ciudad Real was established in the five goals. Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero again had problems in attack, failing to finish the plays and making very forced shots. To all this we must add the failures in the seven-meter shots, which would have put the team in the game. And goalkeeper Javier de la Cruz began to stop shots in this second half of the match.

The possibilities of adding a positive result in this match were fading for Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero. The match would break in the last ten minutes, being BM Alarcos the one that made the best use of the lack of control, mounting quick counterattacks and opening the gap a little more on the scoreboard.

Defeat by 20 to 28 of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero, a result that leaves the team in a complicated situation with six games remaining until the end of the season. The competition stops for three weeks, with FC Barcelona "B" being the next rival of San José Obrero in mid-April.
