The streets of the capital of Lanzarote became the epicenter of sports and fun on Saturday night.

Spectacular atmosphere that was lived in the afternoon-night of Saturday in Arrecife, on the occasion of the celebration of the sixth edition of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife". A test that has strongly consolidated in the sports calendar of Lanzarote, being one of the most participatory and in which all members of the family have their share of prominence. Aroa Merino and Saúl Castro prevailed in the main event of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife", being the winners of the 10-kilometer modality.

Few minutes were missing for nine o'clock at night, time marked to give the start to the sixth edition of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife". The atmosphere that was breathed at that time was extraordinary, with the music of the dj and the animation of the Los Cumbacheros troupe. About 1,200 people, after completing the registration quota, took the start to travel the 5 and 10 kilometers through the main streets of Arrecife and pass through emblematic areas such as El Reducto beach, Avenida Marítima or Charco de San Ginés, among others.

The favorites for the final triumph were placed from the beginning in the first positions, trying to open a gap with respect to the rest of the competitors. In the men's category Saúl Castro and Francisco Cabrera, maintained a very close duel, tilting the victory in favor of Saúl Castro who crossed the finish line with a time of 30 minutes and 59 seconds. The podium was completed with the second place of Francisco Cabrera (31:38) and the third position of Leon Drajer (33:38).

The women's category had a name of its own and is undoubtedly the great queen of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife". The Lanzarote native Aroa Merino returned to repeat triumph in the race and even dared to mark the fourth best time record among men and women. Aroa Merino crossed the finish line with a time of 34 minutes. Delioma González (36:22) was the second classified and the podium was completed with the third position of Gloria Cuéllar (37:51).

The most participatory race was the 5-kilometer modality and that brought together about 800 participants. The runners of this modality had to make a complete lap to the route, completing the established distance and reaching the finish line that was located inside the José Ramírez Cerdá Park.

Tinguaro Quintero printed a vertiginous rhythm along the 5 kilometers of the route, which earned him to repeat triumph in the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife". Tinguaro crossed the finish line as winner with a time of 15 minutes and 35 seconds. The second place was for Michael Black (16:43) and in third position entered Suso Albar (16:45).

 

Beatriz Rodríguez was the winner of the 5-kilometer modality of the women's category, using the winner a time of 18 minutes and 56 seconds to complete the course of the race. The podium was completed with the second place of Celia Romero (20:10) and the third position of Naomi García (21:06).

 

Crawling race and children's tests

 

The sixth edition of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife" was launched on Saturday afternoon and with the prominence for the youngest. Undoubtedly, one of the most anticipated tests was the crawling, for children from 0 to 3 years of age. Fathers and mothers encouraged the youngest of the house to complete the small tour, and all with the applause of the hundreds of people who followed this unique test.

Different children's races were also programmed with distances adapted to the age groups of the participating children. About 300 young people took part in some of the tests that took place on Saturday afternoon on the Avenida Marítima of Arrecife. There were neither winners nor losers, all the boys and girls received their finisher medal of the Disco Night Urban Race "City of Arrecife".

 

Awards Ceremony

 

With the arrival at the finish line of each of the participants, a great festive atmosphere was lived in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park. The music of the orchestra "Rika Banda" encouraged the wait until the awards ceremony of each of the categories was held.

In the awards ceremony were awarded the best classified of each of the categories, climbing to the podium to receive the applause of the rest of the participants. An act that concluded with the family photo of all the winners, being placed until the edition of the year 2019.
