A vibrant final was played on Friday night by Altavista CF and CD Tinajo, the two teams competing for the title of champion of the Cabildo de Lanzarote Regional Cup. From the start of the match, they sought victory, imprinting a strong rhythm to the game they developed on the turf of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote. The goals came in the second half, with Altavista CF taking a two-goal lead, and Tinajo not giving up, managing to make up the final result in extra time.
Both teams took to the field with great intensity in their game, seeking the opponent's goal with great eagerness. Altavista CF took just five minutes to create their first dangerous action, when Echedey made a cut inside the area and his shot was saved by goalkeeper Fabio.
CD Tinajo's response was not long in coming. In the 9th minute, Cándido entered down the right wing, not finishing the play with a shot when he was in an excellent position and looking for the arrival of David Pérez. The ball touched a defender and went over the back line. And from the corner kick, central defender Sergio headed the ball, sending the ball close to the crossbar.
Altavista CF continued to look for CD Tinajo's goal and had two good chances. In the 16th minute, Sergio lashed a loose ball inside the area, sending his shot wide. And in the 22nd minute, it was Cristo "Caballo" who headed a corner kick excessively high.
The forces were balanced as the minutes passed, with most of the game taking place in the wide area of the pitch. The push of the two teams faded, being more conservative than in the first minutes. Altavista was forced to make a change, with Sergio leaving the field injured. The first 45 minutes ended with a goalless draw.
The equality continued to be the tonic during the development of the second half. The two teams did not give up looking for the goal that would put them ahead on the scoreboard, although not wanting to make mistakes in defensive tasks that would make things easier for the opponent.
Altavista CF took the lead in the 64th minute. Toñito hung a ball to the far post, where Cristo "Caballo" finished defectively and defender Luismi, in his attempt to clear the ball, ended up putting it inside his own goal. A bucket of cold water for the Tinajo team, and an action that made the capital team stronger.
In the final stretch of the match, Altavista CF would increase the differences on the scoreboard. In the 87th minute, the play down the left wing was culminated by Echedey at the far post, an action in which he only had to push the ball into the back of the net. It was 2-0 and the final was practically decided.
CD Tinajo did not give up and tried the comeback. Three minutes into injury time, a corner kick was finished at the far post by Jotha, and the powerful volley of the Tinajero captain went like a howitzer into the goal defended by Rayco. It was already too late for the reaction and shortly after the center kick was made, the end of the match was signaled.
Triumph of Altavista CF in the final of the Cabildo de Lanzarote Regional Cup by beating CD Tinajo 2-1. At the conclusion of the match, the trophy presentation took place. Jotha, captain of CD Tinajo and wearing the shirt of Maykel Padrón, received the runner-up trophy from Lorenzo Reyes, Sports Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. For his part, José Antonio Valido, president of the Insular Football Delegation of Lanzarote, presented Toñito with the trophy for champion of the Regional Cup.
