The bay of Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted this past weekend the ILCA 6 Canary Islands Championship – Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea Trophy, a competition in which the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had the participation of two sailors. Alonso Pérez was proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands, after completing two great days of regattas and in which he added the victory in three of the four regattas held.

A total of 24 sailors from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Palma met at the ILCA 6 Canary Islands Championship – Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea Trophy. A competition organized by the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, and in which the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had the participation of Alonso Përez Fernández (sub´19) and Guillermo Bravo de Laguna Ferrer (sub´17).

The first day of competition was marked by the lack of wind, which forced the participating sailors to be more than six hours at sea. Almost five miles from the coast, the Regatta Committee found a south-component breeze with sufficient intensity to give a valid start. A first day in which Alonso Pérez took the lead in the ILCA 6 Canary Islands Championship classification by winning the first regatta.

In the first race of the day, Alonso Pérez crossed the finish line in seventh position, which he was later able to discard as the worst result.

Alonso Pérez certified the title of champion of the Canary Islands in the ILCA 6 class in the second and third regattas on Sunday, achieving the partial victory in both and which were worth to take the first place in the sub´19 category.
