After a very interesting start to the match between CD Estudio of Madrid and Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros, where the second round of the EBA B-A League was inaugurated, and with an island team that managed to have an 8-point advantage on the scoreboard, came the debacle, being erased from the court by a local team that wanted to avoid surprises, comebacks or other factors that would endanger the match.
The scoring percentage of the Lanzarote team was very low and the three-pointers, despite the attempts, did not arrive, a completely different circumstance in their rival, who scored more than half of the points they attempted, as did the three-pointers. Only the solvency under the hoops with men like Alejandro García Tejón or Chike Augustine, gave hope of improving little by little, despite the fact that at the end of the first quarter the score was 30 to 12 for the Madrid team.
In the second quarter, the difference was maintained during half of it. The mistakes and successes continued the same, without managing to score a three-pointer in 6 attempts and with a scoring percentage that continued to decrease. Estudio was not making it easy with a very well-worked defense that did not allow comfortable shots. As if there were not enough problems, Cándido Matoso saw the third personal foul without having reached the halfway point of the match, although it was encouraging to see a very good version of Richard Nguema on the court, trying to carry his team on his shoulders to overcome a situation that had become very complicated. At halftime, the scoreboard of the Paco Hernández Pavilion reflected a result of 54 to 30 for the locals.
Despite the opposition of the islanders, there was no possible way to reduce the advantage on the scoreboard, at most to maintain that difference in favor of the local team, but something more was needed to be able to dream of the comeback. As the minutes passed, Iván Fernández's team realized that it was going to be a lost battle, increasing the turnovers and the difference in favor of the rival, who reached the end of the quarter with a 31-point advantage, 77 to 46.
With the game already lost, the last quarter would be a hard formality that had to be passed, while the differences continued to widen, reaching up to 48 points. It was not the day of Aloe Plus Lanzarote Conejeros, nothing worked out except in the rebounding aspect. They did not manage to score half of what they shot, it took them more than 30 minutes to get a three-pointer, they had more than double the turnovers than their rival and on top of that they had to finish the match without two of their important men, Cándido Matoso and Elvis Pereira, who were eliminated in the last quarter. It was a game to forget, with a very large result, 108 to 61. Now to lift the head and think about the Distrito Olímpico, rival that visits the Blas Cabrera Felipe of Arrecife next Saturday.
