Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez conquer the Spanish Snipe Championship

Vigo Bay, in Galicia, has been this weekend the setting for a new edition of the Spanish Snipe Championship, a competition that has had a wide representation of sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez, the current champions of the Copa de España, have been the great dominators of the three days of sailing and have won the title of Spanish champions.

The Spanish Snipe Championship has had the participation of five crews from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Alfredo González – Cristian Sánchez, Nete Armas – Miguel Bethencourt, Miguel Ángel Lasso – Marcos Peraza, Rafael Lasso – Alejandro Martín and Mariano Stinga – Raquel Vázquez (Comisión Regatas Ferrol), have been the representatives of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife who have been in Vigo.

Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez took the lead in the general classification from the first day of sailing, achieving two partial victories and a second place in the three races held on Friday. The next day, fog and light wind marked the development of the day and only one race could be held, with González and Sánchez obtaining tenth position. And this Sunday, only one of the three scheduled races could be held, with the Lanzarote natives signing an eighth position.

The regularity shown throughout the weekend has allowed Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez to be proclaimed Spanish Snipe champions. Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt have qualified in third position in the Spanish Snipe Championship. The good performance of the Real Club Náutico sailors is completed with a fifth position in the general classification for Miguel Ángel Laso and Marcos Peraza and ninth place for Rafael Lasso and Alejandro Martín.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors, wish to congratulate Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez for this new national success, once again placing the name of Lanzarote and the club at the top of the classification. A congratulation that they also extend to the rest of the club's sailors for the outstanding role played this weekend in Vigo.
