The 17-year-old Alejandro Candela once again prevailed in the Playa Blanca Bay Swimming Crossing this Sunday, covering the 1,200 meters that separate Playa Dorada from the small beach of the town in just 14:45 minutes, followed by his Club Nadamas teammate, Juan José Montes, who finished the race 1:05 min behind the winner. For her part, Delioma González, from Club Tri Activ, demonstrated her physical power among the females, stopping the clock at 18:02 min.
With the triumph in Playa Blanca, Candela strengthens his leadership in the Lanzarote Open Water Swimming Cup and is already aiming for the next stop of this island circuit: the El Jablillo Swimming Crossing (Costa Teguise) on July 29. "The current was in favor and it was a very fast crossing," Alejandro Candela pointed out when leaving the water in Playa Blanca.

Delioma González had a great pace in the southern crossing despite the effort involved in the Ocean Lava triathlon a day before, where she finished second in the women's category. "I would have preferred a start with women and men together because that way the race would be much more exciting," González commented. The group of female participants left Playa Dorada five minutes after the men's departure.

The tourist town of Playa Blanca experienced an impressive sports festival with more than 300 swimmers competing and the participation of dozens of family members and companions. Before the start of the absolute category, there were tests for beginners, children and youth with adapted distances on the town's beach.
The Playa Blanca Bay Swimming Crossing is organized by Club Vulcano and the Aguas Abiertas Sports Association with the support of the Island Council and the Yaiza City Council. The awards ceremony was presided over by the mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuña, the Councilor for Education, Manuela Rodríguez, and members of Club Vulcano.
