Last Saturday, August 20, the XXII San Ginés Swimming Crossing - Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was held on a day with favorable conditions, with NE wind blowing that helped in the route of the elders.
Alejandro Candela from Club Nadamas Santa Rosa crossed the finish line in first place after traveling the 1,200 meters from La Rocar beach to the RCNA, he invested 13 minutes and 42 seconds, surpassing his club mate Lorenzo Calosso (Nonadamos) by 12 seconds, who was classified second, the third place overall was for Álvaro Bernal who marked 14'01'' at the finish line.
In the women's category, the victory went to Sara González from Nadamas Santa Rosa, who invested 15 minutes and 03 seconds, she was accompanied on the podium by María Betancort with 15'33'' and Daniela Robayna, who marked 15'33''.
The day began with the participation of the youngest in the Pre-Benjamin category, who swam 50 meters. Subsequently, the crossing began for the children with 400 meters with final victory for Hugo Rijo in male and Kennedy Hope in girls.
The Alevín category with 800 meters of route was dominated by Oscar Martín, who climbed the podium escorted by Iñigo Santamarina and Javier Betancort; in girls the triumph was for Noa Magliocchetti followed by Silvia Martín and Carla María Pérez.
In Infantil, who shared a route with Junior and Máster of 1,200 meters, the victory was awarded to Adriel Mateo, followed by Eduardo Bussien and Alejandro Rodríguez. The winner in the general classification was awarded the test in children, surpassing her pursuers Daniela Robayna and Alexandra Vidodo.
Alejandro Candela, in addition to winning overall, took first place in his junior category, Álvaro Bernal was classified second followed by Néstor Álvarez. In women, the triumph was for María Betancort, who crossed the finish line ahead of Claudia Mendoza and Ariadna María Pérez.
The young Andrés Martín Ferrer, who recently proclaimed himself runner-up in Spain, was the only participant in the Adapted category, managing to reach the finish line among the applause of the public that awaited him on the RCNA ramp.
To end the day, a refreshment was offered to the participants on the upper floor of the RCNA to regain strength, later the awards ceremony was held, which was presided over by the president of the RCNA, Julio Romero, together with the capital's mayor, Eva de Anta.
The Travesía de San Ginés – R.C.N.A. is consolidated as the one with the highest participation in the Lanzarote Open Water Swimming Cup, and the second of the calendar after the Travesía El Río, which will be held on October 8.
