New success in the third edition held last weekend with more than 700 runners

The northern municipality exceeded all expectations with the third edition of the Haría Titán, becoming the capital of the Canary Islands trail during the weekend and thus consolidating itself as one of the leading competitions in the regional sports calendar.

Haría Titán also stood out again both nationally and internationally, with nearly ten nationalities represented in a list of registered participants that exceeded 700 runners and included participants from all over the country, who did not want to miss the third installment held last Saturday, which started at 7:00 a.m. in the Haría square.

This was reflected in the podium of the main event, the 42km marathon, which crowned the local runner and HTT member, Albi Cedrés, and the Madrid marathon runner Blanca Carralero, who stopped the clock at 3:52:15 and 5:34:02, respectively. Great records that lived up to the excellent conditions of northern Lanzarote with a completely clear sky, enviable temperature, and no wind, which allowed all runners to push themselves to the maximum.

Cedrés and Carralero climbed to the top of the men's and women's podiums, where they were accompanied by the elite runner from Castilla-La Mancha, Jesús Gil (4:09:33), and the also prominent Italian athlete Donatello Rota (4:10:36); and by the also Madrid native Mónica Ayerra (5:53:30) and the Italian, already a regular in this competition and repeating on the podium, Serena Piganzoli (6:05:38).

The half marathon started at 8:00 a.m. to also leave dreamlike images. Yoel de Paz and Leire Fernández were in charge of exalting the also acclaimed 22km half marathon after finishing in 1:37:48 the runner from La Palma, and 2:07:49 the Basque runner. Sergio Machín (1:51:18) and Tanausú Cabrera (1:55:32) completed the men's podium of this event; and Ainhoa Elizondo (2:18:09) and the British Louise Falle (2:26:25) did the same in the women's category.

The 14km circuit was one of the most special, as it brought together the largest number of participants, leaving a spectacular start at great speed. Eutimio Betancor, from EBR-Sport, with a time of 1:08:47, was the winner of the men's classification. While Elisabeth Solero, from CN Reales, was her counterpart in the women's classification with a time of 1:29:05. The first places in the table were completed by Raúl Caraballo (1:10:12) and his cousin Samuel Rodríguez (1:11:06), on the men's side; and by Kat Leeman (1:34:23) and Eider Ruiz (1:38:31), on the women's side.

The awards ceremony served to close in the best possible way this third edition of the best Lanzarote and Canary Islands trail, which began on Friday with the Chinij@ Haría Titán, a modality for the youngest members of the household that filled the 200 places arranged by the organization, a prelude to the extraordinary sports day that was held on Saturday, November 18, and with which a new success is added.
