On September 12, a new sporting event will be born on the island of Lanzarote, with which it is intended to satisfy the demand for long-distance swimming crossings. The 1st Ultravesía Oasis Gran Casino Puerto del Carmen becomes the longest swimming crossing in the Canary Islands and in its first edition will bring together around forty participants.
The event is organized by Swimmingpoint Lanzarote and is aimed at those swimmers who opt for long distances, having to prove their experience in this type of event to participate in it. The Ultravesía Oasis Gran Casino Puerto del Carmen will have two distances, the main event being the 20-kilometer crossing that will have its start and finish on the beach located under the Oasis Gran Casino in Puerto del Carmen. There will be an event with a distance of 10 kilometers, aimed at swimmers who are starting in this type of swimming crossings.
The 40 registered swimmers come from the Canary Islands, several points of the Peninsula and two swimmers from British lands. The largest participation is registered in the 10-kilometer event, exceeding thirty participating swimmers. In the 20-kilometer event, there will be seven swimmers who will take the start on September 12 and with the challenge of successfully completing the Ultravesía Oasis Gran Casino Puerto del Carmen.
The swimmers will start on the beach located under the Oasis Gran Casino in Puerto del Carmen, heading towards Arrecife and placing a signaling buoy every 1,500 meters. At kilometer 5, located at the height of the runway head of the Lanzarote airport, there will be a turning buoy for the participants of the 10 kilometers. The turning buoy of the 20-kilometer event will be located next to El Reducto beach, in Arrecife. The finish line will be located on the beach located under the facilities of the Oasis Gran Casino Puerto del Carmen.
The 1st Ultravesia Oasis Gran Casino Puerto del Carmen is a launched event in which there are no level groups, which means that each participant can complete the crossing at their own pace. The event can be done with or without neoprene, with the swimmers accompanied at all times by canoes, kayaks and support boats, providing liquids and solid food to the participants. The 20-kilometer event will start at 11:00 am and the 10-kilometer distance will start at 12:00 pm, coinciding with the rising tide.
