A half-throttle Zonzamas Lanzarote crushed Balonmano Camargo

In a match without excessive brilliance from the San Bartolomé team

On Saturday, CB Lanzarote Zonzamas had to ratify the solo leadership achieved a week ago against Oviedo Balonmano Femenino by receiving the visit of Camargo 74. A clash where the Cantabrians would seek tranquility in a classification that still has few fissures between the teams.

The local team was soon infected by the rhythm that its rival wanted to impose on the match and, despite being very solid in defense, in attack the team trained by Juan Rivera thickened at times, helped by a slightly favorable score and the tranquility given by seeing themselves superior to their opponent. Thus, after 15 minutes of the match, the score reflected a meager 7 to 3, which gradually increased as the minutes passed until the first half ended with a score of 15 to 3, completing a 9-0 partial for the locals, which left the match on track, but without the sensations of other matches.

Upon returning from the locker room, the Lanzarote team had managed to gain offensive intensity, or at least that was what was shown from the beginning, perhaps helped by Camargo's need to print more rhythm to the match with the idea of finding gaps in the local wall and not returning to the Peninsula with a very poor score in their numbers.

The advantages were increasing but at times Zonzamas disconnected again, getting stuck and finding in the goal, first with Cristina Mazaira and now with Ana Martín, the necessary impulse so that their rival did not get many more goals than they did.

With 10 minutes left in the match, players such as Erika Espino, Sara Lemes or Laura González, from the club's youth academy, came onto the court for the local team, joining María de León, Ana Martín, Malena Valiente or Johanna Canninga to have a team purely of homegrown players.

With a result of 25-11, that is, a 10-8 in the second half, the relaxation of the locals on the court was noticeable, with the anger of their coach who did not feel the good sensations of previous matches and who got tired of asking for intensity from his players.

Next week Lanzarote Zonzamas visits Galicia to face Carballal, a team that has only won one match. Before that, there will be many training sessions and a talk from Juan Rivera to his players.
