Like any good derby, the match between FC Puerto del Carmen and CD Orientación Marítima did not disappoint. Both teams needed the victory and were not afraid to go for it, resulting in a crazy match in the second half, where the fans enjoyed up to six goals, added to the one scored by the local team in the first half.
Jack Talbot's team dominated in the first half, surpassing Nico Elías' team in all aspects, who was forced to make a change fifteen minutes into the match to rectify some positions and equalize the forces in the midfield. Before that change, Puerto del Carmen already had a clear opportunity, with a cross from the right and a close-range shot by Eva inside the small area that Beksy saved with very good reflexes.
The change gave the Arrecife team the opportunity to have their first dangerous approach, through a distant shot by Gara, who saw Naza out of position and tried to get the first goal of the match, however, her shot went wide.
At 21 minutes came the goal that gave the advantage to the Tiñoseras, after a quick play of touch and well woven from the beginning by the left wing that culminated with a change of play to the right where Janet received to put the ball out of reach of the visiting goalkeeper and add the first of her team, and her scoring account.
After the goal, the local team tried to arrive, but CD O. Marítima was well planted on the field performing defensive work and prevented them from generating danger in their goal. Meanwhile, in attack, the capital team offered little, failing to link plays that could allow them to add some scoring opportunity. With the 1 to 0 the break was reached.
At the beginning of the second half, FC Puerto del Carmen surprised their rival and in the first play went for it all, Janet receiving a ball to the right of the field breaking the defensive line, allowing her to step into the area and beat the visiting goalkeeper with a crossed shot before her exit, placing the second goal of her team and her personal account.
The response of Orientación Marítima was quick, with a free kick launched from the three-quarter field area to which the defense did not react to clear, the ball falling to Gara who finished unmarked to put the 2 to 1.
The players of Nico Elías grew with the goal and were about to get the equalizer shortly after Cris goes down the left, dribbles past Naza in her exit and shoots at an empty goal, taking the ball between Haimara and the post, leaving the capital player without reward.
Georgia's injury was a hard blow for Puerto del Carmen. The departure of the midfielder from the field, who in this match played as a central defender, gave the match an anarchic rhythm, with broken systems on both sides, with a lot of haste in both teams and opportunities for both goals.
The first was for FC Puerto del Carmen, with a shot by Janet from three-quarters of the field, seeing Beksy advanced and getting the third on the scoreboard of her team and her particular one. The team from La Destila responded immediately afterwards with a personal play by Gara who made several cuts in front of the area, entered and shot at the near post, placing the ball tightly inside the net. Nice goal was the local and nice the visitor's response.
The public was going crazy while the benches did not stop giving orders to try to make sense of the madness that was beginning to be experienced in the Municipal of Puerto del Carmen. At 75 minutes Orientación Marítima achieves the equalizer. Gara, who was having a great match, manages to hang a ball from the right, controlling Isa with her chest on the second post and scoring before the ball fell to the ground.
There were fifteen minutes left but as the match was designed, there were still surprises in store. A counterattack between Paula Medina and Cris ended with the latter's shot when Naza came out to cover her, the defense taking the ball off the goal line. Puerto del Carmen responded with a quick play down the left and a ball hung into the area that Nieves received, totally alone. The local player shot to break before Beksy's exit and crashed the ball into the crossbar.
When 5 of the 7 minutes added by the referee passed, Nieves receives a through ball that allows her to face Beksy, after a first rejection, the ball falls to the attacker who scores into an empty goal. Madness broke out in the local team, while the visiting team claimed a possible hand of the scorer that the referee did not concede.
The visiting team still had a chance to tie “on the horn”. But the ball hung into Naza's area and finished by Cris went high, closing the match with the score of 4 to 3. With this result, FC Puerto del Carmen advances Orientación Marítima in the standings by one point, both teams having one game less, which the Arrecife team will recover this Tuesday against CD Tarsa.
