Just as rivers go to the sea, words go to the heart when they have come from within. Popular piety intuitively captures this time: the value of spirituality, the message of solidarity, the sacred value of life, the value of joy and messianic peace, the climate of simplicity, and of poverty, humility and trust in God, which surrounds the events of the birth of the child Jesus. No less indifferent usually leaves us the traditional message of the King, issued to the people on the night that renews the Christmas Eve of Bethlehem with words to share, at a time when the atmosphere is conducive to making us think internally. This year he has dedicated his first feeling, as is natural in all his speeches, to those who suffer any kind of pain. Something that can only be deciphered by the path of love. That is why it is so vital to flee from nonsense, from contradiction and to make solidarity, more than a mere sympathy, the root - like a bond of roots - that makes the tree of life grow. We need that amatory passion.
As expected, the King did not mince his words and spoke as deeply as clearly. He said that Spain is a great Nation. That's what we're doing. A good warning to navigators. Which entails, according to my value judgment, a task that places all those responsible to understand each other, before a beautiful and no less demanding task of achieving a fairer society, which reduces the galloping inequalities that we perceive as soon as we look around us; and thus, allow all citizens to fully realize themselves. We must not lower our guard while a heart dies of sorrow or violence assaults us on any corner. From this perspective, it is convenient and healthy to put on the table the incoherence of certain trends of our current time that, while on the one hand magnify the well-being of people, on the other cut off at the root dignities and fundamental rights so necessary to coexist as to live.
The King has bequeathed us a key: To resort to responsible and sincere dialogue, within respect for our constitutional framework, using institutional and democratic channels, always favoring the predominance of what unites us, never of what may separate us, fostering harmony, consensus and mutual respect that have made our stability and progress possible. Of course, the true social conquests, or poetic reconquests, are those that promote and protect the life of each one and, at the same time, the common good of society. In this sense, the King of all Spaniards did not lack the strength to underline the permanent need to act all united, with greatness of vision and a spirit of solidarity. Good recipe to preserve and expand harmonious coexistence. Only unity overcomes divisions and multiplies hope. Without a doubt, a united Spain will always be able to better face the numerous and worrying problems that may arise, or that have already arisen from wanting to parcel out kingdoms.
If at Christmas our spirit opens to hope contemplating the divine glory hidden in the poverty of a Child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger: it is the Creator of the universe reduced to the impotence of a newborn; also the words of the King, who reigns but does not govern, have put wings of concord on our path and a sky of peace to calm possible storms. Thank you, Your Majesty. The more we delve into the paradox of Christmas, the more we discover that the truth makes us free and that love transforms existence. Under that same depth of singularity, I have seen in the words of the King, a desire: to rediscover ourselves and open ourselves to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable, who are the ones who most need to be heard and cared for. In any case, the proposal to put an ear to the heart of the one who calls us to his aid, seems to me a good bet and opportune to relaunch the loving sense as a feeling of the soul.
