Oswaldo Betancort's pupils are dispatched this Sunday with a statement about my candidacy for the Teguise City Council, which, apart from the nervousness it gives off by those who have settled down after the absolute majority they obtained in 2015, marks the campaign style that awaits us from now until May 2019, much to my regret.
It's a shame that they didn't take advantage of the lines of their criticism to address the needs of a municipality like Teguise, and which I am willing to debate with anyone.
They maintain from CC that my candidacy is mandatory, and they are not mistaken. Teguise and this candidate never had so many reasons to take the step:
It is a mandatory candidacy due to a CC majority that is harmful to the interests of the municipality where photos and promises are the norm, instead of facts and realities.
For a municipality that is the most indebted in Lanzarote after eight years of CC in the mayor's office.
Required by the need to promote a change so that the City Council looks after all the residents of the municipality, not only those who carry the eight green stars.
Required by the lack of management, which has caused investments to be eternalized and it is a miracle that the works see the light.
Required by the instability of a Government group that has seen several of its councilors resign in this term, in decisions that I respect, but which has led to areas such as Sports, with up to four responsible councilors that the City Council has had.
Mandatory candidacy for those who dream of a Teguise that is a leader in economic, social, sports and in a City Council for all residents.
Required by my gratitude to a municipality that welcomed me more than twenty years ago, like thousands of neighbors, because Teguise is a welcoming land, where the only condition is to be good people and that brings to my mind the words of the Nobel Prize winner José Saramago: Teguise "is not my land but it is my land", just like for thousands of Teguise residents who, without being born in the municipality, work, defend and dream of a better Teguise.
These are my obligations to the municipality, for which, as Los Panchos would say, "I leave everything" if my fellow citizens grant me the honor of being their Mayor.
I can only say to Oswaldo and CC, "muito obrigado" (thank you very much) for confirming that we are the alternative to their majority and for giving me the strength to make it possible.
