Is a taxi driver worth more than just driving a taxi? Apparently, and given the administrators of the Cabildo's climb-down, both the head of transport, Mr. Ramón Bermúdez, and the president, Mr. Pedro San Ginés, it has been shown that they are. Now we know that, in addition to being taxi drivers, they are going to order public transport on the island.

Mr. Ramón Bermúdez has had the opportunity to govern the transport area on two occasions, and he has been fully involved in implementing the auriga system, convincing all the agents who have something to say on the matter, taxi drivers, business associations, town councils and the Cabildo, in the first opportunity.

The administrations adapted their ordinances to make its application possible, it was put out to public tender, after its bases were drawn up, which no one questions, the award is resolved to a company that, according to the jury's criteria, was the most suitable to provide and manage the system and it seemed that everything was proceeding naturally: public tender, transparent bases, conformity for all, finally in Lanzarote we had in a public award, equality and opportunity for all who want to participate, and once the whole journey has been made, we see, unfortunately, how it is useless, it is enough that someone does not agree, so that everything falls apart: what does it matter that the Cabildo spends 400,000?, in total, it is only public money!.

At the present time, the councillor only limits himself to saying that he does not feel unauthorised and that he only wanted the general interest to prevail, the dog has already bitten the rabbit for me! What does he mean by that, that the general interest is not being prioritised now? If so, you should give a clearer explanation, forget about slapping your pride, on this occasion, I have the feeling that we are all going to be slapped, because you have proved to be incapable of carrying out a fundamental issue on this island, which is the chaos of public transport and you will say how a transport councillor can continue in his post, if in his main function he demonstrates a manifest insolvency, not only because the auriga system is not carried out, distorting a public tender, but because you, as a public official, deny the general interest, for the benefit of a group, very respectable, but which is limited to demanding a right, exclusively, only because the winner is not to their convenience, much less to their condition.

On the subject of the auriga system, it has been shown that in Lanzarote, politicians are more concerned with not bothering anyone than with solving problems, they look more at the vote than at the general interest, they seem more like frightened regents than responsible administrators in whom the people have placed their trust, we do not elect them to be frightened at the first opportunity, the parties can be consulted, listened to, an agreement should be attempted, but in the end, the politician must take decisions, the general interest above all else.

It is presumed that it is the political rulers, elected by the people, who are called upon to set the political-administrative criteria of a community, who define the rules for the better functioning of the public administrations, and their responsibility in the functioning of all the activities that involve the daily life of a community, and what is not understandable is that the criteria of the leaders are subordinated to corporatist interests at the expense of the common interest.

Taxi drivers argue that they are the only ones qualified to manage the taxi sector, I do not dispute this, but this is not about driving a taxi, it is much more, it is the organisation of public transport, the taxi is just another tool within a whole management system, taxi drivers are not needed, managers are sought to administer a system and a good manager could be any company or qualified person, a taxi driver, a plumber, a businessman or simply, even if it seems obvious, a manager.

With the same criteria that only taxi drivers understand transport, one might ask, could a taxi driver be president of the Cabildo? And could Pedro San Ginés manage taxi transport?

Why can a taxi driver be whatever he wants and Ramón Bermúdez or anyone else cannot run a taxi rank?
