I must have been very young when I was last fooled with that... "Look, a flying donkey!". The elders used that phrase to deceive the little ones who, innocently, raised their eyes to the sky in search of winged donkeys. From then on, distrust began to inhabit me.
But lo and behold, the PSOE of Tías has been able to return me to my years of innocence by making me relive that feeling of stupidity that overwhelmed one when looking at the sky, although this time under the phrase: "Tías will restore the double meaning to the Camino de Los Lirios while preparing a project to expand the road". This was said to the neighbors at the meeting convened by the government group to explain that the most immediate thing was the double meaning and that it would be operational at the beginning of the school year. Another unreal and crude attempt by the PSOE to divert the attention of citizens.
The newcomers to the City Council have already had their 100 days of grace and I have not seen their promises of change, although I must admit that I hope not to see them. At least in the conditions they want to do them right now, going back to past times: double sense of circulation and without sidewalks. Are we getting rid of a space created for the safe transit of people and allocating it to vehicles? Please! Why risk a tragedy to realize that pedestrians need a space to walk safely? Why put at risk the safety of young people who go to the Institute on foot or those who use the Camino de Lirios to run, walk or bike?... It's crazy.
And the saddest thing of all is that, before the elections, Cruz Saavedra was already deceiving the neighbors by offering them the promised land. He offered, swore and guaranteed to every neighbor who asked him for anything. He said yes to everything, 'no problem man, it seems like a lie man!, for whatever you need here I am'. He even promised when taking office as Mayor.
Well, that is what you have to do, Mr. Mayor, "for your conscience and honor, faithfully fulfill the obligations of the position" and that includes the obligation to guarantee the safety of any pedestrian who travels along the Camino de Los Lirios.
It also saddens me that his allies, both LAVA and Lanzarote en Pie-SI PODEMOS, are being dragged along by a man who only knows how to take pictures but fails to fulfill everything he promised. In fact, the only projects that have come out are thanks to the well-done homework left by the Popular Party in its stage of Government.
A party that did not deceive or lie to get more votes. The government of the Popular Party, led by Pancho Hernández, made it clear that the current measure of the Camino de Los Lirios was provisional, until the project that was intended could be executed (two senses of circulation, sidewalks, parking, etc.). If the decision that was made was because the priority was to guarantee the mobility and safety of people. Maybe if we had offered paradise as the socialists did we would have obtained an absolute majority but we, those of the Popular Party of Tías, when we swear or promise "for our conscience and honor, to faithfully fulfill the obligations of the position of Councilor", we do it without deception, from honesty, even if it is worth losing the Government being as we are the most voted party.
From the role that we have had to play, we will continue to look with a magnifying glass at each step that is taken in our City Council, because do not forget neighbors of Tías, the CITY COUNCIL belongs to everyone, every euro that enters belongs to each of us and we have the right to know everything that is done with our money. Enough of lies and unfulfilled promises.
Gema Melián, PP councilor in the Tías City Council.
