The Conference of Presidents held last Friday has been an alarming example of the lack of leadership and concrete measures between the Government and the autonomous communities.
It is regrettable that the opportunity has been lost to respond to the widespread demand that coverage must be provided to the parents of schoolchildren who are in quarantine, whether or not they are infected. It is necessary to introduce this issue in the agreements that are being negotiated with the autonomous communities before the return to school.
For a few days now, there have been students who have joined their classes, so it is not understood that this Conference of Presidents has been convened so late. There has been a lack of leadership from the central government, but also loyalty from the CCAA to face the situation in a coordinated manner.
In this sense, we do not understand that the Covid-19 Plan for Education, endowed with 2,000 million euros, has not been addressed at the Conference, but we do not know the specific measures and objectives.
Likewise, it is incomprehensible that neither the necessary educational reinforcement nor the flexibility of the curriculum to adapt it to the current pandemic situation has been addressed. No clear actions have been agreed and the context indicates that it is impossible to work on all of the current academic curricula in some of the educational levels.
It is evident that the reduction of ratios is essential to face the return to the classrooms and that is only achieved with more teachers and, in addition, we remember that the maximum ratio of students per class must be marked by the central government.
